Our Curriculum

CCMA’s core curriculum offers a broad introduction to musical structure, performance protocols and styles from the Renaissance to modern music.

Areas of Study

Ear Training.

Our approach uses special methods to help students identify fundamental musical elements (like intervals, chords, chord progressions, etc.) and so be able to sing, play and anticipate music more naturally.

Music Theory & Analysis.

Our teachers help students understand the elements that form harmony, melody, and rhythm along with compositional elements such as song form, tempo, notes, chords, key signatures, intervals, scales, and more.

Music History.

From the Renaissance to the Romantic period and beyond, music history broadens our understanding and gives insight to how the world has evolved. Throughout our instruction we continuously expose our students to the wonders of the past, which in turn creates skilled and artful musicians who are equipped for the future.

Performance & Musicianship Studies.

In the ever changing landscape of the music industry our curriculum helps students develop a unique performance approach and to hone their own musical qualities such as pitch, tone, timbre, texture, dynamics, and others.

“The Chase Conservatory manages to provide enormously talented instructors who are plainly over-qualified, and yet engaged and inspiring for every student on the spectrum of learning: from my 8 year old son, who began on piano 6 months ago, to myself a beginner in my 40s, to my mother who has been a music (piano) enthusiast throughout her entire life. The quality of instruction, and the energy invested in each student, set [the school]apart from other piano and guitar lessons we've experienced. I recommend seeing one of the student recitals, if possible; the quality of those performances is awe-inspiring. A city like New Orleans, known for musical influence, SHOULD have this level of musical instruction. And now it does. Lucky us!

“Both of my kids have been going here for years. We love the program and all of the instructors. The recitals are always a treat too. We love how the kids get the individual care and attention they need to learn at their own pace. “
